The F. A. R. T. mobile; Woman driver kicks up a stink about Norman's car.
A WOMAN caused a stink over rally driver Norman Walker's large pink FART.
She had the wind put up her by the 9 in high letters on Norman's beat-up Peugeot 205 GTi, as she drove past his house.
Norman, who is a member of the Fort Augustus Rally Team (FART) was puzzled when a police officer visited him at his home in Invergarry, Inverness-shire, to air the woman's complaint.
The 33-year-old fish farm worker said: ``I wondered what was going on. The car is in my garden, as the front is bashed in and the gearbox broken.''
``Then the officer said that a lady from Fort William had complained about the FART lettering and found it offensive.
``I can scarcely believe that anyone in this day and age could be offended by it. It's quite clear what it stands for the full name of the team is underneath.
``The policeman, who was shaking his head, told me to cover it up or move it. I put tarpaulin over it to keep the peace.''
But Northern Constabulary should brace themselves if the sensitive driver is travelling up the A82 again.
Norman said: ``There are about 20 FARTs on the go at any one time in the area. Rallying is very popular here.''
A police spokesman said: ``Mr Walker's rally car was parked on private land and is not causing any hazard.
``The matter is closed.''
Whiff of trouble: Norman was told to cover up the offending vehicle by police but warns there are many more like it
