Derry 3 Drogheda 0 NEW Derry hitman Anthony Elding netted a superb brace at the Brandywell on his home debut to send City fans home happy last night.

Elding put Derry into the driving seat in the ninth minute when he dived low to direct Mark Timlin's cross past Michael Schlingermann.

The goal of the game was netted in the 39th minute, a fanastic left foot strike by Barry McNamee.

The Derry midfielder latched onto a wayward clearance from Drogheda defender Joe Gorman and fired home from 25 yards.

The game was ended as a contest when Josh Daniels was pushed to the ground inside the area and up stepped Elding to fire home from the spot.
