The Digital turnaround strategy.

In case you were concerned about the fate of Digital Equipment Corp., we have reassuring news. Digital just sent us an announcement of the company's "updated logo," along with a pair of color swatches (one on coated stock, one on offset) that illustrate the company's tasteful new burgundy-on-white color scheme. "We feel it is important that you have the most current and accurate information about our logo," writes Arthur J. Fiacco, director, Corporate Communications Program.

And in case you were concerned that Digital--like several other hardware companies we could name--seems a bit out of touch with its customers, Arthur Fiacco also advises us that, "based on a worldwide market research project, we determined that more people recognized [the name] `Digital' than `DEC.'" We'll try to remember this useful fact the next time we hear that Digital's new management intends to focus on high-priority issues.
