Band enters studio to record their new Capitol
album for Spring 2002 release
Capitol recording group The Dandy Warhols -- currently in the studio recording the follow-up to last year's "thirteen tales from urban bohemia" -- have emerged as this year's number one most-wanted band for film and television soundtrack placements, as their dizzying repertoire of "dreamy psychedelia, ethereal harmonies and country-tinged rave-ups" (Alternative Press) has been tapped for the upcoming Fox series "Undeclared," the films "Summer Catch," "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" and "Crazy Beautiful," and the television series "Sex and the City," "Ed," "Six Feet Under," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Roswell."
Snatching tunes from their two Capitol albums, "thirteen tales from urban bohemia" (released last July 2000) and "...The Dandy Warhols Come Down" (1997), visionary music supervisors on both coasts have discovered the secret pleasures of The Dandy Warhols' "potent sonic speedball of classic dark-side rock" (as characterized by the Los Angeles Times). Leading the pack is Fox's "Undeclared," debuting September 25th (the new series from Judd Apatow, co-creator of "Freaks and Geeks"), which will feature "Solid" from "thirteen tales" as its main title/theme song.
The Dandy Warhols are also clearly the darlings of ad agencies worldwide. Across the pond, "Bohemian Like You" will be tapped for a full year in spots for Vodaphone, Europe's largest telecommunications company. The Vodaphone blitz will blast "Bohemian" on television and radio, in cinemas, via the Internet and even in on-hold music. Of course, Dandy Warhols know-it-alls rejoiced when the song showed up in the Gap stores' Christmas 2000 ad campaign.
From Portland, Oregon's fertile alternative rock scene, The Dandy Warhols comprise guitarist and lead vocalist Courtney Taylor, guitarist Peter Holmstrom, Korg keyboard bassist Zia McCabe, and drummer and vocalist Brent DeBoer. Following working with Massive Attack in Bristol, England in July after a sold-out European summer festival tour, The Dandy Warhols have now returned to the U.S. to begin recording their eagerly awaited new album for a Spring 2002 release.
