The Best Of Melania Trump's Fashion Forward Looks.

Melania Trump has flown relatively quietly under the political radar throughout her husband's campaign for president. Instead, the soon to be the first lady of the United States and former fashion model made headlines through her bold fashion statements and elegant looks. She appeared Thursday night alongside the president-elect at a dinner to thank donors in a figure-hugging gold Reem Acra gown.

Trump appeared at the inauguration Friday in a powder blue Ralph Lauren ensemble with matching heels, prompting comparisons to former first lady Jackie O. She paired the outfit with long matching gloves and wore her hair in a loose bun.

She wore a number of other Ralph Lauren items while campaigning with her husband, though Lauren himself was an avowed Hillary Clinton supporter and ( had designed many of the pantsuits she wore on the campaign trail. He reportedly said he would dress Trump as a "( bipartisan " move. A number of other designers, however, pledged never to dress the first lady. Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Sophie Theallet all said they would not work with her.

Trump has been spotted in labels like Gucci and Roland Mouret, favoring sleek figure-hugging dresses and sky-high pumps. Her Republican National Convention speech featured a $2,910 white bell sleeved dress by Roksanda, which subsequently sold out in stores and online hours after she spoke. Trump's outfit at the second presidential debate spoke volumes with its "pussy-bow blouse," worn days after Trump's infamous "grab them by the pussy" tape leaked.

The first lady is often looked to as a style icon, and former first lady Michelle Obama had her fair share of memorable fashion moments throughout her time in the White House. As Trump becomes the nation's 45th first lady, here is a look back at some of her most notable looks from the past few years.
