The Baltimore Sun Selects BGE Commercial Building Systems to Provide Over 31 Thousand Megawatt Hours of Electricity Annually for Two Properties.

BALTIMORE -- BGE Commercial Building Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of BGE HOME and a member of Constellation Energy Group , announced today that it has been selected by The Baltimore Sun to provide in excess of 31 thousand megawatt hours of electricity annually to two properties over the next three years. The properties include The Sun's headquarters on Calvert Street and Sun Park, The Sun's state-of-the-art printing facility in South Baltimore.

As a result of electric deregulation, large commercial businesses must select an energy supplier by July 1, 2002 or begin paying default service rates. The Sun's selection process was highly competitive. After talking with several suppliers, BGE Commercial Building Systems was selected to work closely with The Baltimore Sun's energy consultants to structure a fixed charge for energy usage which will further allow them to reduce their energy costs by managing peak demand.

The pricing structure in their contract was unique because it included an option that allows The Baltimore Sun the opportunity to take advantage of their on-site generation capabilities. Additionally, BGE Commercial Building Systems, in conjunction with sister company Constellation Energy Source, helped The Baltimore Sun resolve their energy commodity budget challenges by providing predictability of expenses and staying within their existing budget parameters.

"This agreement captures the core strength of what BGE Commercial Building Systems brings to the marketplace. We were extremely pleased to have The Baltimore Sun choose us as their energy supplier," said Bill Munn, President and CEO of BGE Commercial Building Systems.

BGE Commercial Building Systems, and sister company Constellation Energy Source have joined forces to address the energy needs of large commercial customers in the deregulated energy market. Through their joint efforts, BGE Commercial and Constellation Energy Source will develop a customized approach to address each customer's energy management requirements. "Our goal is to utilize our energy management expertise to help businesses stabilize and understand their individual energy needs," said Greg Jarosinski, President Constellation Energy Source.

Note: BGE Commercial Building Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of BGE HOME and a member of Constellation Energy Group . Constellation Energy Source (CESource) is also a member of Constellation Energy Group. Based in Baltimore, Constellation Energy Group owns energy-related businesses, including a North American wholesale power marketing and merchant generation business, and the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE). Constellation Energy Group had $3.9 billion in revenues in 2001 and assets of $14.1 billion at December 31, 2001.

The Baltimore Sun Company is a subsidiary of Tribune Company , a leading media company with businesses in 20 major U.S. markets. Tribune Publishing is the leading U.S. major-market newspaper group, with the third- largest circulation. The company is made up of 11 market-leading newspapers, including The Baltimore Sun, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune and The Orlando Sentinel.
