The BASF UV absorber Uvinul 3030 for plastics applications gets FDA approval.

In addition to the existing EU approval, BASF has now been granted approval for the UV absorber Uvinul 3030 from the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This means that Uvinul 3030 can be used in all plastics, which come into contact with foodstuffs. This includes packaging, storage vessels and kitchen equipment.

With its unusually high thermal stability and low volatility, Uvinul 3030 is highly suitable for use in plastics such as polycarbonate (PC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyether sulfone (PES) which are processed at high temperatures. Excellent compatibility with polycarbonate makes Uvinul 3030 the ideal UV absorber for high-transparency applications, such as panes for atriums.
