The Acts of the Apostles.

Beverly Gaventa's The Acts of the Apostles (Abingdon, $28) is the latest addition to the Abingdon New Testament Commentaries. The author, Professor of New Testament at Princeton Seminary, knows the literature on Acts, as her bibliography in the volume attests. She concentrates on the theological message of the book. She stresses the activity of the Spirit and the understanding of the church and mission throughout the book while also giving attention to its literary features. This is an eminently useful, practical commentary. It will prove a helpful resource for developing an adult forum on this unique New Testament Book. It is a resource you will prize.
