NEW YORK -- DKMS, the world's largest bone marrow donor center, will further its fight against blood cancer with the organization's 6th Annual DKMS Gala on Thursday, April 26th at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC. Katharina Harf, Chief Inspiration Officer of DKMS, will present the "Fight Against Blood Cancer Award" to Heidi Klum in recognition of her efforts to raise awareness for the fight against blood cancer. The event will also honor long-standing board member and loyal supporter of DKMS Alejandro Santo Domingo, Senior Managing Director, Quadrant Capital Advisors with the "Fight Against Blood Cancer Award" for supporting organizations and charities dedicated to the cause.

"As a mother of four, my heart breaks knowing that blood cancer kills more children in the U.S. than any other diseases," said Heidi Klum. "If you would like to help these children by becoming a donor, please get swabbed."

Nate Berkus will emcee the black tie event that will include an emotional first time meeting of a 6-year-old, blood cancer survivor and his donor, and special performances by LP and Skylar Grey. All proceeds raised will be used to register lifesaving bone marrow donors.

At just fourteen years old, Katharina Harf lost her mother to blood cancer. Her mother was in need of a bone marrow transplant but the search for a lifesaving donor seemed hopeless because, at the time, there were only 3,000 unrelated donors available.

"I am thrilled to honor Heidi Klum and Alejandro Santo Domingo with this award. They both have big hearts for saving lives and are dedicated to the Fight Against Blood Cancer," said Harf. "Helping to save patients with blood cancer is my life's mission, and it's an absolute miracle when I get to witness a patient meet his donor for the first time. I can't wait to share this special moment at this year's Gala."

The DKMS mission is to lead the fight to defeat blood cancer by empowering people to take action, give bone marrow and save lives. DKMS is the world's largest bone marrow donor center, with over 3 million registered donors worldwide. More than 30,000 DKMS donors have helped save lives by donating their bone marrow. DKMS is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information or to register as a bone marrow donor, please visit

In October 2006, Coty Inc., a global beauty leader and the world's largest fragrance company, joined DKMS in the fight against blood cancer by establishing the Coty-DKMS Linked Against Blood Cancer partnership. Led by CEO Bernd Beetz, Coty has leveraged its strong celebrity partnerships to raise awareness of the disease and help DKMS recruit thousands of donors around the world. "Coty is proud to partner with DKMS," said Beetz. "We are dedicated, committed, and passionate about recruiting donors and fighting blood cancer."
