The 15th Conference of Young Lithuanian Scientists "Science--the Future of Lithuania": Environmental Engineering Section.
On 12 April 2012, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, will organise the Environmental Engineering Section of the 15th Conference of Young Lithuanian Scientists "Science--the Future of Lithuania". The Section will be dedicated to scientific reports. The Conference Organizing Committee includes Head of the Environmental Protection Department prof. habil. dr. P. Baltrenas and Secretary of the Conference Organizing Committee assoc. prof. dr. D. Paliulis. The Scientific Committee of the Conference includes staff of the Environmental Protection Department: President--prof. habil. dr. D. Butkus, Secretary--PhD student J. Kozlovska-Kedziora, and members--prof. habil. dr. P. Vaitiekunas, prof. dr. S. Vasarevicius, assoc. prof. dr. R. L. Idzelis, assoc. prof. dr. A. Zigmontiene and dr. R. Grubliauskas.
The Environmental Engineering Section is one of the largest sections of the Conference. Every year, it involves young scientists, researchers, PhD students, graduates and undergraduates of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and other higher education institutions, representatives of ministries, research institutes and a variety of businesses related to environmental areas. Four subsections will be organised: diversity and atmospheric protection; hydrosphere and soil conservation; anthropogenic pollution on the environment; and the physical environment pollution. Work in subsections will be moderated by members of the Scientific Committee of the Conference. Before the work in sub-sections, a plenary meeting will be held, during which invited specialists will deliver presentations on various environmental fields. The Conference will address environmental issues relevant to Lithuania, i.e. air pollution studies, air-cleaning technologies, climate change and related indicators, environmental monitoring, mathematical modelling, water, wastewater, soil pollution control and reduction, waste management, landscape bio-diversity conservation, anthropogenic impacts on the environment and public health, environmental management and economics, vibration, acoustic noise, thermal pollution, electromagnetic fields, ionizing radiation studies on live organisms and the environment, pollution reduction measures and renewable energy sources. Prior to the Conference, all submitted papers will be reviewed by two reviewers. All selected original scientific articles related to the themes of the Conference and corresponding to requirements will be published in the reviewed scientific journal "Journal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management", which is included into the Master List of the Science Citation Index Expanded database (ISI Web of Science IF = 1.333 (2010)); or in the reviewed scientific journal "Science--Future of Lithuania", which is indexed in international databases (ICONDA, Gale, EBSCO Databases, Ulrich's, Index Copernicus); or in the reviewed collection of scientific articles "Environment Protection Engineering", which is included in the international database.
We invite staff and students of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and other institutions to actively participate in the Conference, share knowledge, experience, and results of research carried out in the field of environmental protection. The Conference is not only valuable to people who want to present reports, but also to those who want to learn about current environmental problems and possible solutions.
The Conference will be held at the Environmental Protection Department of the Environmental Engineering Faculty, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Sauletekio al. 11, LT-10223 Vilnius Phone: (8~5) 2744724, (8~5) 2744726 Fax: (8~5) 2744726 E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
