That's gotta hurt, Bill; Pullman displays a scary lack of judgement by starring in tired parody of horror flicks, says Film Editor GRAHAM YOUNG The BigMovie SCARY MOVIE 4 (15) VERDICT:.
Maybe he was tempted by the fact this is a Miramax movie, a company normally associated with Oscar hopefuls like Chicago, Gangs of New York and The Shipping News.
But he should have run a mile when he saw that his part would revolve around this film's inevitable and exceedingly uninteresting toilet gag.
Made by writer/director David Zucker, the rest of Scary Movie 4 parodies everything from Saw to War of the Worlds, The Village and The Grudge, with fourth-timer Anna Faris returning as Cindy Campbell and co-stars including Michael Madsen, Carmen Electra and, remember him, Charlie Sheen.
Three scriptwriters valiantly try to link the movies together while constantly resorting to repeatedly bumping heads on screen in sympathy.
Although the Brokeback Mountain reference is admirably topical and the opening Saw sequence has a nice punchline, the rest of the 83 minutes becomes increasingly desperate.
Save for President Baxter Harris, played by veteran Leslie Nielsen. Later wondering if his naked body skin is a wrinkly leather coat, he prefers to listen to a children's story than to try to save the world.
Now that is a scary thought.
BELOW THE BELT... Carmen Electra brings tears to Bill Pullman's eyes in a scene from Scary Movie 4 which spoofs The Village.
