Thank-a-vet luncheon shows appreciation for our vets.

The Thank-A-Vet Luncheon provides a free lunch to those from our community who gave so much to preserve the freedom that we now enjoy.

It is our token remembrance to the men, women and their families who served us so well.

This year's luncheon takes place on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Assumption College, 257 Shellard Lane, Brantford.

Tickets for veterans, spouses, widows, widowers and Memorial Cross recipients are free. Nonveterans, children, grandchildren, and guests other than spouses, purchase a ticket. This year's cost is $30.

Tickets are available for pickup and purchase at: Your

Neighbourhood Credit Union, 7 Charlotte St., Brantford; 75 Grand River St. N., Paris; and 403 Fairview Dr., Brantford; and from the constituency office of MPP Dave Levac at 96 Nelson St., Suite 101. Hours there are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the Poppy Campaign some 18 million poppies and 70,000 wreaths, crosses and sprays are distributed across Canada and overseas annually.
