Thai food festival at Movenpick Towers.

The embassy of Thailand in Doha and Movepick Towers and Suites will hold an event to coincide with Songkran, the Thai New Year celebrations at the hotel's Asian restaurant, Wok Mee Noodle House on Sunday.

Aptly named 'The Taste of Thai New Year' the event recreates the ancient festival in Doha's West Bay area for a selection of industry and international embassy guests, with an intimate evening of traditional Thai dinning and cultural entertainment.

To mark the occasion Ambassador of Thailand to Qatar Panyarak Poolthup and ME[micro]venpick General Manager Jan Kaiser will open the ceremony with an official ribbon cutting. It is the second year running that the celebrations are taking place at Wok Mee Noodle House.

The evening's entertainment promises a delightful programme of authentic cultural performances to welcome 'Thai New Year 2012', from decadent Thai costume dancers performing the traditional 'Happy New Year' dance, live Thai fruit carving stations and the playing of the Ranat or Thai xylophone.

The event marks the launch of a three-week long Thai food focus at Wok Mee Noodle House.
