THE YEAR'S FIRST NEW YORK HOME Fashions Market gets off to a start on Monday, March 8, and lasts through Friday, March 12.

With the possibility of an overall economic recovery benefiting the home furnishings industry later this year, vendors are offering a broad array of new products covering a variety of design and lifestyle trends. The hope is that the optimistic mood among retailers that was seen in trade shows earlier this year will carry over into the showroom market this month.

L'Opera Royale, one of the new ensembles in Springs Globai's Court of Versailles collection, pays homage in bedding and bath collections to House at Versailles.

1 Pendleton Woolen Mills' Saltillo Stripe, named after the city in northeastern Mexico where serape weaving originated, is a classic stripe reminiscent of the traditional serape stripes of Hispanic weaving. 2 Revman's Fiji Coast, a novelty scenic beach print, and Fiji Block shower curtains are new to the Tommy Bahama collection, and coordinate with the new Ocean Blue colorway of Relax powder-coated metal bath accessories. 3 The Pink Dream bedding set offers a brightly colored addition to The Mega International's line of children's bedding. 4 New to United Feather & Down's licensed Borghese line is the Dolce Notte collection, which features luxury fabrics and Borghese's signature Botanic Down or Botanic Down Alternative blends. Insert left: Nourison is introducing a wide-ranging lineup of hand-crafted decorative pillows, including the hand-sewn one seen here that features cowhide strips of varying tones and directions.

1 United Linens' Jessica collection of table linens includes a tablecloth, seen here, made with metallic embroidery, embellished flowers and an intricate lace border. 2 Textiles Plus's new Clownfish towel is part of the company's offering of a set of beach towels with fun 3 A new grouping of bamboo cotton towels will be offered at Home Source International's expanded showroom at 230 Fifth Ave. 4 This new bedding collection carries forward Co-lomba Living's orientation toward prewashed bedding, bath, tabletop and home-accessories products made from natural linen, cotton, silk and 5 The Paris curtain collection, made of 100 percent polyester, is part of Luxury Home Textile's broad introduction of window treatments, bed ensembles, comforters and blankets.

1 Memory-foam and latex products will be added to Pacific Coast Feather's Sealy bed-pillow and topper licensed 2 Euroletto Linens & Home's Kenya ensemble is a customized private-label pattern that is entirely woven, cut, embroidered, sewn and finished in Italy. 3 The Sunny Day ensemble, a Dutch-Amish-inspired design depicting puppies and song birds frolicking with Sunbonnet Sue, is part of Greenland Home Fashions's Just for Kids collectionh. 4 The Prague throw joins Greenhorn Trading Company's Scottish Cashmere collection, and is part of a larger offering of baby products, bedding, kitchen, bath and tabletop items. 5 A line of bamboo placemats will be launched by Textiles Plus, which has expanded its showroom at 230 Fifth Ave. Inset left: Bardwil's Tommy Bahama line of table linens, including the placemats pictured here, is designed with the color, texture and fabrics that bring the island experience inside the home.

1 Luxury Home Textile's Squares collection includes a comforter, two pillow shams, a bed skirt and three cushions and is made of 100 percent polyester. 2 Colomba Living's new line of linen tablecloths adheres to its design focus on offering simple, yet sophisticated lifestyle products, 3 The geometric design wof Justin and the floral look of Newport join Trendex's line of placemats (seen here), napkins, table runners, chairpads, decorative pillows and window treatments. 4 Greenhorn Trading Company's new Linen Mist collection of napkins is made with linen voile and is available in solids and plaids. 5 The Stretch Stripe slipcover from Sure Fit is made with a combination of polyester and spandex for hard-to-fit furniture.

1 Pendleton Woolen Mills has recreated four of its blanket patterns in its new grouping of super-sized Jacquard towels, made in cotton velour and suitable for beach, pool or hot tub. 2 The Passion Paisley ensemble is made with 100 percent cotton velvet, and is part of Divatex's offerings of solid and printed velvet duvets, quilted coverlets and decorative pillows. 3 Guilford, an addition to Revman's Laura Ashley brand, makes a dramatic statement with an overscaled damask print in shades of black, white and khaki. 4 Essex, part of WestPoint Home's new Izod collection, is a menswear-inspired bed ensemble com. bining plaid with a tonal houndstooth pattern and richly textured solids.
