Texas Instruments lowers price on TravelMate(TM) 4000M Notebooks.

TEMPLE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 1995--Strengthening its position of price/performance leadership in notebook computers, Texas Instruments Friday announced price reductions on its award-winning TravelMate 4000M Series of multimedia notebooks.

The price reductions range from 10 to 22 percent and include the new TravelMate 4000M/100 Active Matrix Color notebook with the 100MHz IntelIDX4(TM) processor.

TI also announced a free PCMCIA modem with the purchase of selected TravelMate 4000M models, as well as a new "desk-to-desk" service program that offers customers greater convenience and fast turnaround.

The TravelMate 4000M notebooks include brilliant active matrix or dual scan color displays, large hard disk drives up to 524MB, a PCMCIA Type III slot, and built-in multimedia capabilities including 16-bit sound. All models are compatible with the optional battery-powered Portable CD-ROM Docking System, which transforms the TravelMate 4000M into the ultimate portable multimedia system.

With an estimated street price of $849, the Portable CD-ROM Docking System includes a double-speed 250 millisecond CD-ROM drive, built-in stereo speakers, a second NiMH battery, a 50-pin Centronics SCSI II connection, and much more.

Free 14.4K bps PCMCIA Modem with Purchase of Selected Models

The free PCMCIA modem promotion is effective through March 31. Texas Instruments will offer a free 14.4K bps send/receive data/fax PCMCIA modem (a $299 value) with the purchase of the TravelMate 4000M/75 Active Matrix Color (340MB), the TravelMate 4000M/75 Dual Scan Color, the TravelMate 4000M/50 Active Matrix Color, or the TravelMate 4000M/50 Dual Scan Color notebook.

New "Desk-to-Desk" Service Program

The TravelMate 4000M notebooks are covered by a new "desk-to-desk" service program.(c) If a customer calls for service before 3 p.m. local time, TI will arrange for the notebook to be picked up that day and shipped via priority one overnight to the TI repair center.

TI will repair the notebook the next day and ship the repaired unit via priority one overnight to most domestic locations before noon on day three. For warranty service, all domestic shipping charges will be paid for by TI.
