Texas DOT to widen State Highway 10.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has retained RJN Group (Wheaton, Illinois) to perform engineering services to widen State Highway 10 (SH 10) from Bell Spur Road to Westpark Way in North Tarrant County, Texas.

This 1.9-mile stretch of roadway was formerly State Highway 183 and was constructed in 1939 and widened in the 1950s. The SH 10 project includes both urban and rural roadway design elements. The 18-month project includes preliminary design and plan, specification, and estimate services. The project consists of widening SH 10 from the existing four-lane divided section to a six-lane section with a 24-ft raised median. The median width will provide storage capacity for left-turn lanes at intersections, and a buffer zone to separate adjacent and opposing lanes of traffic.

The construction phase of the project will begin in fall 2002.
