Summary of Actions
A regular meeting of the Board of Nursing was held April 21-22 2016, in Austin. The following is a summary of Board actions taken during this meeting.
In the May 27, 2016 issue of the Texas Register, the Texas Board of Nursing (Board) proposed new [section]211.10, relating to Training and Education Reimbursement. The proposed rule prescribes requirements for the reimbursement of training or education expenses for Board employees, including: eligibility requirements, employee responsibility, the obligations assumed by employees upon receiving those funds, and the requirement that the Executive Director approve education and training reimbursement. The proposed amendment may be viewed at: http://www.sos.state. tx.us/texreg/pdf/backview/0527/0527prop. pdf. Earliest possible date of adoption: June 26, 2016.
In the May 20, 2016 issue of the Texas Register, the Board proposed an amendment to [section]211.9, concerning General Considerations. The proposed amendment addresses the parliamentary procedures under which Board proceedings will be conducted. The proposed amendment may be viewed at: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/texreg/ pdf/backview/0520/0520prop.pdf. Earliest possible date of adoption: June 19, 2016.
In the May 13, 2016 issue of the Texas Register, the Board proposed amendments to [section]217.4, concerning Requirements for Initial Licensure by Examination for Nurses Who Graduate from Nursing Education Programs Outside of United States' Jurisdiction. The proposed amendments are necessary to treat foreign educated nurse applicants for initial licensure in Texas more similarly to individuals educated within the United States and to remove unnecessary barriers to licensure for these individuals. In the April 15, 2016 issue of the Texas Register, The Board adopted amendments to [section]211.6, concerning Committees of the Board; [section]213.23, concerning Decision of the Board; [section]213.32, concerning Corrective Action Proceedings and Schedule of Administrative Fines; [section]214.8, relating to Students; and [section]215.8, relating to Students. The amendments were adopted without changes to the proposed text as published in the February 12, 2016, issue of the Texas Register (41 TexReg 1076).
