Teva launches generic Avapro and generic Avalide in the US.

M2 PHARMA-April 2, 2012-Teva launches generic Avapro and generic Avalide in the US(C)2012 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (NASDAQ:TEVA) on Monday announced that it has begun the commercial launch of Irbesartan and Irbesartan-Hydocholothiaxide tablets, the company's generic versions of Sanofi Aventis' high blood pressure treatments Avapro and Avalide tablets.

Based on IMS sales data the brand products had annual sales of approximately USD464m and USD124m respectively in the US.

Teva has also been awarded a 180-day period of marketing exclusivity as the first company to file Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA) containing paragraph IV certifications for both of these products.
