Testing times at Tyneside festival.

REVELLERS at Newcastle's Evolution festival this weekend are invited to take a free chlamydia test.

Healthcare staff from the North East's chlamydia screening programmes will be offering tests on Sunday and Monday at special toilets at the event.

Chlamydia is the North East's most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) and new figures show around 10,000 new cases were diagnosed in 2011.

Those tested will also be able to choose how they receive their results either via text, letter or phone call.

People who live in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland who take the chlamydia test will also be tested at the same time for gonorrhoea, which has seen an increase of 28% across the North East in the past year.

Young people who are not attending this weekend's Evolution Festival but want to take the free chlamydia test can order it online at www.checkyourbits.

org or by texting GREMLIN, with their full name and address to 80010.

Alternatively they can call 0191 229 2958.
