Tension rises Down Under; DRAMA Cold Feet (ITV, 9.00pm).

THE sun and surf of Sydney beckons for the thirtysomethings in the last episode of the current series tonight.

Pete's bombshell decision to marry Jo means best mates Adam, Rachel, David and Karen have followed him Down Under in this 90-minute special.

But Adam is convinced his friend is making a big mistake and he's determined to put a stop to the wedding.

David is in determined mood, too. He intends that this holiday will be Karen's best ever, but she's still torn between him and lover Mark.

What terrible taste Karen (Hermione Norris) has in men - David is dull as dishwater, but Mark (Sean Pertwee) is a smarmy sleaze bomb.

Rachel's sister turns up to complicate matters. She's a lesbian who wants a child and her solution is to sleep with as many men as it takes until she gets pregnant. But Adam has a better idea.

There's been no hint that a new series of Cold Feet will be made and if this is the last-ever episode, we should make the most of what has been a relatively disappointing series.

The Kumars At No 42 (BBC2, 9.00pm)

GRANNY'S in her element again in tonight's episode of the hilarious spoof chat show. Sanjeev is welcoming Dalziel And Pascoe star Warren Clarke on to the set, much to his mad granny's delight - Meera Syal's scene-stealing ought to be reported to Scotland Yard.

Granny tries to tempt Warren with her home-made Indian sweets and is utterly smitten by his large hands and feet, asking the bemused actor: "Do you work out?"

There's a brighter spot on the horizon for Sanjeev in the shape of his other guest, Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq.

He immediately falls in love and attempts to impress her with "the biggest indoor water feature in the Wembley area".

Hot Property (Channel 5, 8.30pm)

PRESENTER Alice Beer is in Glasgow tonight for the final edition of the show that gives first-time buyers the chance to win their own home.

Anton and Pamela both live in the city, but not together, both still staying at home with their parents.

Alice offers them three properties - the first is a one-bedroom mezzanine flat in the former Co-op building in the city centre; the second a quirky four-bedroom bungalow 15 minutes drive out of town; and the third is a one-bedroom basement flat in the sought-after West End.

They take video tours of all three des res and, after hearing the advice of a top property expert, Anton and Pamela are asked to pick the one they would like to be their dream home.

If they can guess the selling price to within pounds 1000, it's theirs.

EastEnders (BBC1, 8.00pm)

NEW parents Mark and Lisa enjoy a welcome break tonight when Sharon offers to babysit.

But they'll live to regret it as, predictably enough in soapland, it all goes horribly wrong.

Sharon (Letitia Dean) really wants time away from Mr Potato Head Phil, but he turns up for a smooch while she's watching baby Louise.

And when the sprog's constant crying starts to get on his nerves, the sensitive Mitchell brother switches off the baby alarm. Not one of your better ideas, Phil.

Checking on the tiny tot later, Sharon is horrified to discover she is not breathing.

Mark and Lisa arrive home just in time to leap into the ambulance where the recriminations begin immediately.

And now it's time for Sharon to tell Phil the truth about why she can't have a baby of her own.

Things are no happier in the Slater household where a furious Kat, ignoring Little Mo, searches in vain for Zoe.

(Sky One, from 8.00pm)

SCI-FI aficionados will be in their own little heaven - or deep space as the case may be - with three back-to-back episodes of the drama.

In the first, Kira is pleased to show Commander Riker of the Enterprise around the ship until he hijacks a warship.

During a celebration of his promotion to captain, Sisko is told to leave the Defiant to try to avert war on the Tzenkethi home world in the second episode. But then it becomes clear there is a shapeshifter on board.

The third has Sisko and the crew stranded on a remote planet with a dying Vortan leader and a small group of Jem'Hadar.

(UK Gold, 10.20pm)

TRUCK driver Ronnie (Ricky Tomlinson) pays a high price for playing the good Samaritan in tonight's episode of the factory drama.

He pulls over to help a stranded motorist, but is left beaten and bruised and bereft of his cargo for his trouble. The police suspect it was an inside job and put pressure on Ronnie to admit he deliberately let his truck be stolen.

(History, 7.00pm)

THE tale of the Young Pretender is re-told in this documentary.

Prince Charles Edward Stuart laid claim to the British throne and led his Jacobite troops in rebellion against the Crown.

But despite military successes in Scotland and England, Bonnie Prince Charlie was forced into retreat and a bloody last stand at Culloden in 1746, the site of the last battle on British soil.

There the Jacobites were crushed by government forces led by the Duke of Cumberland.

(Granada Plus, 7.30pm)

SAVING a child from drowning has made Martin a hero and he's lauded by all. But everyone quickly becomes fed up of hearing about his brave exploits.
