Tenor Lance Ryan won the AsLiCo (Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana) Competition held at Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, Italy, over a field of 200 singers from 20 European countries. The prize is performing the role of Hoffman this summer in Milan, as well as concerts in various locations. The White Rock, B.C., native has been studying and working in Italy for the past three years. He sang his first Radames in Verdi's Aida this season and Manrico in Il Trovatore next season, both for Opera Mississauga.
