Television: Friel and easy.

WATERMELON (ITV1Wales, 9pm) THE lovely Anna Friel and her sculpted cheekbones make a return to the small screen tonight in this adaptation of the classic chick-lit book by Marian Keyes.

Always a kooky actress and something of a character too (well, she was engaged to Darren Day), Anna makes classic beach reading come alive in this tale of a serial liar whose world falls apart when her lover discovers he's not the father of her child.

Adopting a rather dodgy Oirish accent, Friel's role takes her from the pubs of Dublin, where she gets pregnant by one boyfriend, to the bright lights of London, where she bumps into and deceives another.

And that's the only thing wrong with this drama really - that Friel's character just isn't very likeable.
