(TAP) -- Popular Front candidate for the early presidential elections Hamma Hammami said that he had not targeted his opponent Youssef Chahed during the televised presidential debate aired on Monday on national TV channel Wataniya 1.
"I did not accuse Youssef Chahed of corruption, but rather criticised his political and moral responsibility in all corruption operations that occurred under his regime," he clarified in a statement to TAP on the fringes of his visit to Manouba as part of his election campaign.
During the third and last televised presidential debate intended to help the citizens choose between 26 presidential candidates, Chahed called on the Tunisians to massively vote for credible people, not for the corrupted.
Popular Front presidential candidate Hamma Hammami replied saying that the corruption is at his left, in allusion to Chahed, according to web surfers.
"The corrupted people are not capable to combat corruption, those who have destroyed the country cannot repair the damage today," he indicated.
