Telenor Global Services AS has selected, US-based ITXC Corp's (ITXC's) global network for voice on the Internet, for the exchange of international phone calls.

Oslo-based Telenor Global Services, a unit of the Norwegian telecomms group Telenor established to provide international wholesale services to telecomms operators, mobile operators and ISPs, has collocated ITXC's customer premise equipment at its switch site to gain immediate access to ITXC's network for sending and receiving international calls via the Internet.

Although ITXC carries calls to and from Norway over the Internet, the calls are placed and received on ordinary telephones and fax machines in the usual way, with neither party needing a computer. According to ITXC callers will not even know their calls are being routed over the Internet.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
