Teleconferencing has its own association.

The International Teleconferencing Association (ITCA) is an active trade association.

Members use teleconferencing, manage business TV and teleconferencing networks, design the technology, sell products and services, advise customers and vendors, conduct research, teach courses by teleconference, and teach about teleconferencing.

Our members come from such diverse areas as health care aerospace, government pharmaceuticals, education, insurance, finance and banking and manufacturing.

ITCA committees produce programs and services to benefit the membership, including audioconferenced roundtables on applications, implementation, technology, and basics of all forms of teleconferencing.

ITCA frequently offers workshops and special events, including highly popular seminars on government uses of videoconferencing. Members receive substantial discounts on selected books, publications, and services.

Several benefits are available free of charge to the membership, including the ITCA Videoconferencing Room Director, the ITCA Yearbook of teleconferencing research papers, the ITCA membership directory, and access to the ITCA library of materials.

The ITCA also publishes a monthly newsletter which includes industry and association news, case studies, practical tips, and explanatory articles about teleconferencing technologies and trends.

Special-interest groups (SIGs) allow members to focus on individual interests. An aerospace SIG was formed to replace the discontinued TAG/AIA group. A teletraining SIG allows members to share success storeies about corporate and academic teletraining programs.

SIGs ar also available for videoconferencing room coordinators, users of BTV networks, and government videoconferencing users.

This year, we are emphasizing the development of regional chapters in metropolitan areas. Local chapters have already been formed in New York, the Bay Area, Southern California, and the Twin Cities.

The highlight of ITCA's calendar year is Intelemart, the annual business meeting and exposition of the International Teleconferencing Association. The trade showis the world's largest exposition dedicated to teleconferencing. Intelemart 1990 will be held June 11-14 at the Washington Hilton and Towers.

The International Teleconferencing Association was created in February 1983 by a small group of teleconferencing professionals. Membership has steadily grown from the original 30 organizers to over 850 members.
