TelNet Worldwide Deploys Full Suite of GENBAND Solutions to Enable IP Service Delivery Network.

Long-Standing GENBAND Customer Expands beyond Gateways, Addresses Interconnect Requirements with G9 Gateway, S3 SBC, C3 Signaling Controller

PLANO, Texas -- GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of IP infrastructure solutions, today announced that TelNet Worldwide, Inc. a comprehensive telecommunications service provider offering a robust portfolio of business communication services throughout the Great Lakes region, has deployed GENBAND G9[TM] Converged Gateways, C3 Signaling Controllers, and S3[TM] Session Border Controllers. Together these systems fortify an IP service delivery environment and allow seamless interconnection with essential communication applications and networks to further TelNet Worldwide's commitment of delivering the capabilities its business customers need to prosper.

TelNet Worldwide had previously deployed GENBAND's G9 and C3 platforms for packet trunking of voice traffic across its extensive, fiber-based network. With its transition to all-IP, the company is using the G9 and C3 to intelligently route traffic across its network using cost-effective IP trunks. In addition, many enterprises are replacing their standard PBXs with IP PBXs, and GENBAND's S3 is providing the security and interworking so that IP PBXs can peer directly with TelNet Worldwide's IP network.

"The GENBAND alliance continues to 'future proof' our network and offer a full complement of strategic, next-generation IP services in a progressive manner," said Mark Iannuzzi, TelNet's Founder and President. "With a powerful combination of IP trunking, advanced call routing and session border control, we can reduce cost and complexity as well as enhance our customer experience and extend service reach to a broader market. GENBAND provides us with a fundamental core solution set, and we appreciate having a vendor partner that invests in our success, understanding our customer and network interconnection needs."

IP equipment used in the heart of the service provider network and within the enterprise uses a variety of protocol and signaling variants, making direct interconnection a challenge. By enabling direct SIP Trunking, the S3 SBC normalizes and securely manages this traffic so that voice traffic can proceed transparently between the networks. IP telephony applications integrate with the C3 and G9 platforms to efficiently route and terminate the traffic with other IP networks or the PSTN.

"As one of our long-standing customers, we are pleased to expand GENBAND's relationship with TelNet Worldwide and help them migrate to an all-IP infrastructure," said Pablo Gargiulo, President of Global Operations at GENBAND. "TelNet Worldwide is the lifeline to businesses and the leading educational institutions in the State of Michigan, and they are using our integrated suite of gateways, SBCs and signaling solutions to expand their network and market coverage. We look forward to helping them as they provide these affordable, new converged IP services to their growing customer base."

GENBAND's G9[TM] Converged Gateway is a high-density, carrier class trunking, access and signaling gateway that is purpose-built for use in mobile, fixed line and converged operators' packet and circuit-switched networks. The G9 platform supports a wide range of interfaces for managing network borders and providing media processing in TDM, ATM, and IP networks, including high density trunking, access and packet interfaces. Support for both mobile and fixed codecs, protocols and interfaces allow the G9 to be the key network element in service provider solutions.

GENBAND's S3 Session Border Controller delivers secure carrier class, real-time communications for mobile and fixed line service providers, enabling new service offerings, rapid revenue generation and network cost-savings. With extensive security, policy enforcement, session routing, and session management capabilities, the S3 brings operators advanced levels of functionality, flexibility, and performance at IP network borders.

GENBAND's C3 Signaling Controller is a multi-application control platform for GENBAND's carrier class G9 gateways that provides a new level of network reliability, flexibility and scalability for carriers. Its fully featured, advanced routing and control solutions manage the complex interworkings of fixed and mobile network operators at TDM/circuit and packet network borders. The C3 resides on industry standard, high availability commercial platforms.
