Tel Aviv Beats Milan.

Israeli soccer team Hapoel Tel Aviv defeated Italy's AC Milan 1:0 on Thursday in the first of the quarter-final games between the two teams in the UEFA Cup.

The one point of the game was scored by Sergei Kleshchenko in the game's 31st minute, when he kicked the ball in mid-air, sending it sailing into the Milan goal.

The game was hosted by Nicosia, Cyprus, after the UEFA management decided that they would not allow any sporting activities in Israel due to the uncertain security situation.

Nonetheless, almost 2,000 Israeli fans descended on the island state for the game. In light of security concerns, the Cypriot authorities instituted particularly heavy precautions in and around the Nicosia stadium.
