Teenagers dazzle at speech contest.
The Inter Gavel Club Speech Contests were held in four categories, Humorous Speech, Inspirational Speech, Table Topics and Evaluation. In each category, there were 13 contestants who had triumphed at their club-level contests.
The team of councillors of Gavel clubs supported by the four divisions of the toastmaster's fraternity (E, Q, S & T) joined hands together to organise the much-awaited annual Inter Gavel Club Speech Contests at Birla Public School recently. The contests were held in four categories, Humorous Speech, Inspirational Speech, Table Topics and Evaluation. In each category, there were 13 contestants who had triumphed at their club-level contests. Toastmaster Anil Nair, the co-ordinator of Gavel Clubs in Qatar set the ball rolling in style, with his opening address. This was followed by a banner parade conducted by Toastmaster Sundaresan, the representatives of the 13 clubs marched with their banners to the drum rolls and appreciative applause of more than 300 fellow gavelliers, parents and toastmasters who were in attendance. Also in attendance were the Club Councillors-Toastmasters Aparna Ranish, Natalie Raymond, Prabha Sreenivas, Prathiha Ramesh, Surya Narayan, Ruban Devadas, Sudaresan Subramaniam, Alan John, Hari Raghavan, Uttam Vaidya, Syed Abid Hussaini, Mohammed Bilal and Anil Nair. The young speakers entertained, inspired and persuaded the audience with their highly imaginative speeches. They chose topics that were very relevant in today's age and shared the experience gained from their own trials, triumphs and tribulations. Each speech had a unique take-away message for the audience. The competition was so fierce that even the experienced toastmasters judging the contestants had a tough time in picking the list of winners as follows. Humorous: 1st Nishit Kumar, 2nd Dhruv Ramesh Nair, 3rd John Tomy; Table Topics: 1st Reuben Suju Varghese, 2nd Saanvi Sudesh, 3rd Saahil Sameer Bandharkar International: 1st Reuben Suju Varghese, 2nd Dhivyashree Ramesh, 3rd Aania Shah Evaluation: 1st Megha George, 2nd Aishwarya N, 3rd Samiksha Arora The event was graced by Toastmasters District 20 Finance Manager DTM Rajeswar Sundaresan, Division Q Director Thayalan K, Division S Director Philip Cherian, Division T Director Abhijit Kuwalekar, Division E Asst Director Girish Jain, Speakers Bureau Chairman TM Ravi Kumar, TLI Chair DTM Raghavan Menon, Past Division E Governors DTM Ram Mohan Roy, DTM Manzoor Moideen and several other dignitaries from the toastmasters fraternity in Qatar. The eight-hour marathon event came to a close with a vote of thanks by TM Prabha Sreenivas, wherein she thanked the principal, staff and management of Birla Public School and all present for supporting the event. The event was truly dazzled by the electrifying performance of the teenagers.
