Teenager smashes taxi window to steal Dh20 because he was hungry.

Ras Al Khaimah: A 15-year-old boy smashed a taxi window and stole Dh20 from inside to buy some food after his mother punished him for coming home late by refusing to serve him dinner, a judiciary official at the Ras Al Khaimah court heard.

Fat'hi Al Qala'a , Judge of the First Instance Court of Ras Al Khaimah dismissed the Arab teen's claims in court and released him after a warning, asking parents to discipline their children. The decision came after the Asian driver of the taxi pardoned the teenager and dropped the case against him.

The case dates back to last month when the teenager found the taxi parked unattended in an area of Ras Al Khaimah. He smashed the window as his mother refused to serve him dinner as punishment for coming home late.

The boy admitted to the judge that he smashed the window to get some money from the taxi, claiming he was hungry after his mother punished him for coming home late. "I returned home after midnight and my mother refused to let me inside the house," the teenager told the Judge

"She wanted to punish me. I smashed the window of the taxi and got Dh20 from there to buy food. I wanted to buy dinner as I was hungry. I didn't want to steal," he said.

The Asian driver of the taxi lodged a complaint with Ras Al Khaimah Police after he found his vehicle's window shattered.
