Teenager Dan beats Tiger Woods to become first to get hole in one at Belfry's 10th.

HE MAY be just a teenager and not yet even a professional golfer, but Dan O'Connor has already succeeded where Tiger Woods has failed.

The 19-year-old became the first person ever to hit a hole in one on the notorious 10th hole at The Belfry - an achievement which has eluded the game's greats for more than 30 years.

Three-handicapper Dan, from Maesteg, aced the 311-yard, par-four hole at the West Midlands course on Saturday.

The Brabazon course's tricky 10th hole was made famous when the late Seve Ballesteros drove the green back in 1978.

Dan said: "It's the first ever time in history to have a hole in one. It's amazing - Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have played the hole, all the best players in the world have played there."

The teenager, who works at Southerndown Golf Club, was at the course for a bargain pounds 99 two-day break with seven fellow players from Maesteg Golf Club, where he plays.

"I just hit it and it was good, it was on line and it was just going the right way. I saw it drop on to the green but as we were walking closer the ball disappeared and went in the hole. I was just amazed. It was brilliant, the proudest moment of my golfing career."
