TOM WILSON'S dream of claiming a hat-trick of national titles remains right on track.

The Everton Red Triangle boxer heads to Portsmouth this weekend for the finals of the National Association of Clubs for Young People tour nament.

Mersey teenager Wilson marched through the semi-finals on Saturday with a heavy points win over Jez Smith of Bushey and goes into the Class A 48kg showpiece in stunning form.

The 15-year-old's win in Wakefield means he takes his defence of the national crown all the way to the south coast.

Sharp left-hands kept snapping back the head of the Bushey ABC boxer back as Wilson raced into a 4-0 lead after the first round.

Wilson turned aggressive counter-puncher in the second session and impressed the crowd with his array and accuracy of shots before the ERT youngster turned the heat up on Smith.

Following some powerful shots, Wilson forced Smith into a standing eight count but the stunned opponent survived to hear the final bell.

However Wilson's dominance was reflected in the 15-1 scoreline which secured his shot at a third national title and ERT coach Mike Stevenson had nothing but praise for the exciting teenage talent.

"That was pretty much picture perfect from Tom today," he said.

"He's in top form at the moment and looks sharper with each bout."

. THE NACYP finals take place at the Charter Sports Community Centre in Greetham Street, Portsmouth Keep an eye out in this week's ECHO for details of Tom's opponent as well as day, time and weigh-in details.
