Teen's up for travel honour.

A TEENAGER has scooped a national youth award for championing a young persons travel card.

Alex Hylton, 16, of Bednall, near Stafford, has won a national Youth on Board Award from the British Youth Council for his "relentless efforts" promoting the Your Staffordshire Card to teenagers. The card allows 11 to 19-year-olds to travel by bus for pounds 1 per single journey as well as a range of discounts from almost 60 businesses - 30,000 have signed up to date.

Alex was instrumental in the card's development as a member of Staffordshire's Youth Action Kouncil (YAK) and has delivered talks on the card to around 100 county schools.

He said: "I'm very proud that my work in Staffordshire is being recognised on a national level.

"It certainly makes standing on a wet high street on a rainy Saturday a lot more worthwhile when you know it is making a real difference to young people's lives."
