Teeing off in breezy Ireland.

IRELAND is the sort of place that will often bring back fond memories; often the sort that will lead to long discussions. Michael Davern, chief executive and general manager of the Straffan- based The Kildare Hotel, Spa & Country Club, popularly known as The K Club, went down memory lane at a recent dinner at the Irish Ambassador's residence in New Delhi.

" I first saw Tiger Woods learn fishing at The K Club at Straffan," he noted, " And then when he had just gotten engaged to his long- time girlfriend ( and now wife) Elin Nordegren. Later, I met the couple when they were expecting their first child, Sam," he added.

In fact, Woods has always been forthcoming in showing his love for the country -- among other things -- that is best known for its awardwinning littE[umlaut]rateurs, such as William Butler Yeats and James Joyce apart from astounding golf courses. In a recent interview to the Irish Sun, Woods had said how he loved playing golf in Ireland, which he has been visiting since 1998. " I had such a great time in IrelandC* I loved fishing here and I loved hanging out at the pubs," he was quoted in the interview.
