Tectonic Resources reports that mining operations have begun at its RAV 8 nickel sulphide mine near Ravensthorpe in Western Australia. The company awarded the open-pit and underground mining contracts to Barminco at the end of February, and mining operations commenced in mid-March. Tectonic has also started construction of the nickel concentrator adjacent to the RAV 8 deposit, the contract for which was recently awarded to JR Engineering Services. The project is on schedule for completion by the middle of this year, with production scheduled for July. The mine is expected to produce about 48,000 t of nickel concentrate, containing about 8,600 t of nickel metal.
