Project details: This project is implemented in a context where countries like Senegal are facing severe energy crises and / where the ECOWAS and UEMOA have begun to incorporate energy efficiency in the policies of Member States. In addition, the project comes as the technologies needed for the production of insulation materials from Typha were developed and validated in Europe with Typha latifolia and Typha angustifolia . Many national and international partners are currently engaged in various initiatives in relation to the production of thermal insulating materials or bioclimatic buildings.
The project objective is to facilitate the transfer of technologies necessary for the development of local production of insulation materials with the Typha Senegal. It aims to improve energy efficiency in urban and rural construction techniques, including the use of building materials to energy efficiency.
The project will enable Senegal to reduce CO2 emissions related to energy, improving energy efficiency in the construction sector. This will be achieved through the design, development, commercial production and use of a new thermal insulation material based on Typha.
The project will finally contribute to the transformation of a nuisance (Typha as an invasive plant) as a resource for local development and the development of an appropriate management system in place for its sustainable use.
