The Wireless World Research Forum is made up of researchers affiliated with companies and universities all over the world who participate in an ongoing dialogue concerning the future of wireless technology. The organization emphasizes a multi-disciplinary approach to the design of future wireless communication systems and services--an approach that encompasses the social sciences as well as computer science and telecom engineering so that varying needs of end-users and social aspects of the technology are considered. An introductory chapter explains the objectives and workings of WWRF. Subsequent chapters discuss a user-centered approach, service infrastructures, cooperation between networks, end-to-end reconfigurability, technologies to improve spectrum efficiency, new air interface technologies, and scenarios for the future.
