Team of the week.

YOU can almost see the triumph on these little one's faces, and with good reason. For these lads had just proudly won the Stockton Schools Football Association's Salter Cup (under 13s) in 1960.

The boys from Oxbridge Lane School had beaten St Patrick's Thornaby, 2-1 in a hard fought final replay to clinch victory at the Victoria Ground, Stockton.

The photograph was sent by Dave Dryden who was one of the lads on the winning side all those years ago.

Dave has even provided the original match report from the Evening Gazette.

So now we know that Johnson for Oxbridge scored first midway through the first half while the second goal came from O'Neill early in the second half. Then Sawden scored a consolation goal.

This was the first time Oxbridge had won the cup since its inception in 1948.

The players pictured on the back row from left to right are: Dave O'Neill, Dave Johnson, Dave Johnson, Mick Wood, Les Dovastone and Keith Hepworth. Front row, left to right: Alan Maher, Duncan Eddy, Dave Dryden, Ken Lupton, Mal Newton, Tad Douglas and Bill Murray.

Head master, Mr F Showell is pictured on the left while coach and teacher Mr F D Kinsman is on the far right.
