Teaching hospitals attached with DHQ/THQ hospitals.

LAHORE, August 28, 2009 (Balochistan Times): On the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the medical colleges and teaching hospitals have been attached with DHQ and THQ Hospitals in the province. The initiative to effect is taken to improve the Health Care Delivery System and to provide consultancy services of specialists doctors to the people of far-flung areas. Punjab Health Department issued notification accordingly, said the departments spokesman here Wednesady. According to the notification, he said, King Edward Medical University, Mayo Hospital, Lady Wellington Hospital and Lady Aitcheson Hospital, Lahore have been attached with DHQ/THQ Hospitals Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal as well as Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and Government Yaki Gate Hospital, Lahore. Similarly, Services Institute of Medical Sciences and Services Hospital Lahore have been attached with Mandi Bahauddin and Hafiz Abad DHQ, THQ Hospitals, they will also look after Aziz Bhatti Town, Lahore. Moreover, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Jinnah Hospital attached with Okara, Sahiwal and Model Town and Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore, Fatima Jinnah Medical College/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital attached with District Gujrat, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib as well as Sammanabad Town Lahore. Post Graduate Medical Institute/LGH Lahore have been attached with Kasur, Pakpatton as well as Nishter Town and Cantonment Lahore; Nishter Medical College Multan has been attached with District Multan, Khanewal, Muzafargarh, D.G. Khan and Layyah; Quaid-i-Azam Medical College Bahwalpur has been attached with District Bahwalpur, Vehari, Lodhran and Bahwalnagar. Sheikh Zayed Medical College Rahim Yar Khan attached with District Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, District Headqurarter Hospitals (Teaching) Sargodha attached with District Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab and Bhakkar, Punjab Medical College Faisalabad attached with Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chinnot and Rawalpindi Medical College has been attached with DHQ/THQ Hospitals of Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock and Jhelum. Health Department has issued necessary instructions to the Principals and Medical Superintendents of Medical Colleges/Teaching Hospitals to notify monthly schedules of visit of consultants, Post Graduate Residents to the DHQ/THQ Hospitals. In this connection, EDOs Health of the concerned districts will coordinate with the teaching and DHQ/THQ Hospitals to facilitate the visiting doctors. The Specialist Doctors will shift the patients to teaching hospitals for specialized treatment which were not available at DHQ/THQ Hospitals. The spokesman said the attachment of teaching Hospitals with District and Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals would bring a visible change in Health Delivery System and the people of remote areas would get best medical facilities at their door steps.
