Taxing Texaco.

The topic of sex is generating a different type of publicity for another Little Rock woman.

Janella Sue Martin is the subject of an article in the Nov. 11 edition of People.

Martin, who now makes her home in Los Angeles, recently won a $17.7 million sexual discrimination suit against Texaco Inc. That is believed to be the largest sum ever awarded in such a case.

Martin, 48, filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 1985 after being denied a promotion to credit manager for Texaco, a job she claimed she had been promised when she agreed to take the position of western regional credit supervisor in Los Angeles two years before.

On Oct. 2, a Los Angeles jury awarded Martin $2.7 million in compensatory damages and $15 million in punitive damages.

Attorney-turned-agent Cliff Jackson of Little Rock now is trying to get his client booked on Cable News Network's "Larry King Live."
