Taxable removals down in January

Total taxable removals in January were 13.8 million barrels, which was three-percent, or 429,322 barrels less than last year's total of 14.2 million barrels.

Six of the 17 states and combination groupings showed increases in January with New Jersey reporting the largest increase; 128,878 barrels. The largest decrease was recorded in the state grouping of Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland and South Carolina; 180,409.

Two of the four geographical areas reported increases, the larger being the South Atlantic-East and West South Central regions; 2.1 percent. The larger decrease of the areas was recorded in the East North Central region; 10.4 percent.
