Taurus sales up 12pc in quarter.

MANAMA: Taurus, Ford's flagship sedan, posted a 12 per cent increase in sales in Bahrain during the first quarter of this year.

The American carmaker said this indicates "growing popularity of the full-size sedan among customers in the kingdom".

Across Middle Eastern markets it posted an 88pc increase in sales.

"Since Ford Taurus debuted in the region, it has consistently become a favourite among Ford customers with its array of safety, infotainment and fuel-saving technologies, which even more expensive sedans cannot match," said Ford Middle East's director of Sales Thierry Sabbagh.

"This encouraging performance in Bahrain proves that customers welcome the Ford Taurus and appreciate the unique features and driving dynamics that this model offers, and that our commitment to deliver quality, smart, safe and fuel-efficient vehicles is well-appreciated.

"Ford Taurus is not just big in size, it also leverages technology to deliver best-in-class quality and performance, elevates driving dynamics and maintains its safety legacy," Mr Sabbagh said.

"Ford Taurus is even more refined for the 2013 model year - with better fuel economy, more technology, enhanced design, improved craftsmanship and sharpened driving dynamics.

"The 3.5-litre V6 is offered as standard equipment in Taurus SE, SEL and Limited series models," he added.
