By MIRROR REPORTER HUGH Jackman was shocked by a superfan waiter - who stripped off to reveal a tattoo of his XMen character Wolverine.

The Australian actor, 40, was enjoying a meal at an upmarket eaterie in New York when a server approached his table.

But instead of taking an order, he shocked the star by whipping off his shirt to reveal a tattoo on his back depicting the superhero.

Jackman, who hosted the 81st Academy Awards in February, said: "He took his shirt off in the middle of the restaurant.

"And I saw the guy's back was covered with a tattoo of my character Wolverine.

"I run into Wolverine groupies all over the place from convention-goers to custom officials.

"That was pretty strange but at the same time these people make the show the big hit that it is."
