Targets of the coward; Your Say.

WE agree with your correspondent, D J Arrowsmith of Saltersgill (Coward Has Stolen Our Privacy Right, 26.03.09) in his condemnation of the person sending letters to the Evening Gazette using fictitious names.

Mr Arrowsmith's description of the perpetrator of these deceptions as wicked and deceitful is one which we would share.

On at least two occasions we have been the target of the coward who is writing these letters and who is attempting to discredit us. Let us tell him/her that the objective has not been achieved.

We have had residents contacting us who read the latest letter, which went under the fictitious name of Melissa Costa. The writer, instead of discrediting us, has done us a service.

We have been able to talk to many people about the subject matter of the letters and put the record straight; while at the same time being able to alert people about the viciousness of some who will stop at nothing to discredit others.

In our view these letters are part of a policy, practised by a few, which seems to possess no moral decency in its pursuit of dubious ends.

The correspondence columns of the Evening Gazette serve a vital purpose for the people of this area. They are well read and offer a real opportunity for worthwhile debate. We wish you well in your attempts to eradicate the evil of dishonesty being perpetrated by that sorry few who do not understand the meaning of the words honesty and integrity.
