TargetGov and bwtech@UMBC Are Recipients of the Greater Baltimore Committee Bridging the Gap Achievement Award.
Baltimore, MD, December 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Greater Baltimore Committee honored TargetGov and bwtech@UMBC are winners of the 2013 Bridging the Gap Awards for Partnerships/Strategic Alliances. TargetGov and bwtech@UMBC were recognized for their contribution to the Baltimore community through their partnership of the Government Contracting Institute.
By offering over $70,000 in scholarships for the Government Contracting Institute classes, TargetGov and bwtech@UMBC have been able to help minority- and women-owned businesses see more success in a growing government marketplace. Gloria Larkin, President of TargetGov, and Ellen Hemmerly, Executive Director of bwtech@UMBC, attended the event and received the finalist certificate and the award itself at the Grand Historic Venue in Baltimore, Maryland on November 14, 2013.
“We designed the classes to help companies accelerate government contracting success with updated business development, marketing, sales, accounting and legal training,” said Gloria Larkin, creator of the Government Contracting Institute. “Attendees have reported seeing positive results; one small business won five prime contracts since attending the classes!”
“The Government Contracting Institute provides another beneficial business development resource to bwtech's incubator companies,” said Ellen Hemmerly, “particularly those in our cybersecurity program.”
The Government Contracting Institute is a series of courses designed to help businesses in critical aspects of contracting with the government including accounting, GSA Schedules, business development, writing winning proposals, capture strategies, pricing and accounting issues, compliance and legal issues, security clearances and socio-economic certifications.

Other recipients of the 2013 Bridging the Gap Awards were, for Achievement by a minority- or woman-owned business, ACL Computers and Software, Inc., Axiom engineering Design, Baltimore Window Factory, BottomLine Growth Strategies, Inc., Daytner Construction Group, Intelect Corporation, Point.Click.Switch, and Proove Biosciences, Inc. For majority-owned business demonstrative inclusive business practices Bon Secours Health System, Inc. was the awardee. Stephanie Hill, President of Lockheed Martin IS&GS-Civil and Senator Verna Jones-Rodwell were recognized with the President's Award.
