Target killings claims 1198 lives in last seven months 179 killed, 320 seriously injured in Balochistan.
ISLAMABAD, August 08, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Over 1198 people have lost their lives in different incidents of target killing and murder around the country during last 7 months of the current year. According to a report released by Edhi foundation envisaging that 1198 people were killed in Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan since January 01 to August 07, 2009. Only 65 people were assassinated or killed while 106 sustained serious injuries during month of June in Karachi. In Karachi, 364 people including political activists of different parties lost their lives while 468 were wounded in different incidents of violence and target killing. In NWFP, 388 people were killed while 153 sustained serious injuries in criminal incidents while 179 people were killed and 320 sustained serious injuries during the last 7 months in Balochistan. Keeping in view the growing incidents of target killing in Balochistan, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Risani had deployed troops of Frontier Constabulary in Quetta. In Punjab, 257 were shot dead or murdered while 380 received injuries in different incidents of crime during the last 7 months. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani took notice of incidents of target killing in Karachi ordered Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qiam Ali to control such incidents. Three days ago, Balochistans Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Sardar Rustam Khan Jamali was shot dead by unknown armed men in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
