Tamper-evident plastic cap applied by hand.

Packaging specialists Johnson & Jorgensen has been appointed sole UK stockists for the new Olea cap, claimed to be the first plastic purpose-designed closure for olive oil and vinegar bottles. J&J is setting minimum quantity orders as low as economically viable to enable small-volume producers and bottlers of olive oil, vinegar and similar foodstuffs to benefit from the innovative cap.

Made of food grade HDPE, the pre-assembled Olea closure consists of a tamper evident outer moulding and a pourer plug with internal spigot, There are three separate scaling systems. The pourer plug provides a close-tolerance scaling surface between the bottle bore and plug. There is a generous upper surface on the plug to ensure a positive mating seal between this and the top of the bottle, and the internal spigot seals the bore of the pourer plug when the outer tamper evident moulding is applied. Anyone with average strength should be able to apply the closure by hand, a further attraction for small-volume producers. It is also designed to be applied by semi-automatic capping machine or high-speed automatic line.

The closure is available in 31.5mm. and initially with a choice of gold or black outer moulding colour. More standard colours are promised.
