Tambrands sells Brazilian feminine hygiene subsidiaries.

The Brazilian subsidiary of Tambrands, White Plains, NY, has sold off its external feminine hygiene product lines in an effort to concentrate on the South American tampon market. The company plans to increase "Tampax" tampon production by 40% from the 1991 output of 43 million units. The feminine hygiene pad manufacturing lines marketed under the "Sutil" and "Ela" brand names and the disposable diaper line "Plim Plim" were purchased by Higiebras Produtos Higienicos do Brasil of the P&T Participacoes Societarias Group.

Higiebras is located in Araucaria, Brazil; operations will be consolidated at the same facility in Aruja, near Sao Paulo. Products will be marketed under a new brand name, "Pro-Higiene Industria e Comercio Ltda."
