Tales of an auctioneer...

FOR OUR July meeting Cossington WI welcomed Mr Rik Alexander of Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd who spoke on "Life behind the scenes at an auctioneers".

Mr Alexander works alongside Charles Hanson and during this time has sold over 30,000 items for Charles. He related some very interesting stories of incidents which have happened along the way.

Apart from being an auctioneer and valuer, Mr Alexander does a lot of work for charity, which involves a fair amount of travelling. After the talk members of the WI were invited to share some of their own items for information on history and valuation.

The WI is held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30 pm in the Jubilee Hall (rear of school). The subject for our August meeting is The Body Shop by Stephanie Bradshaw. Visitors fee PS4, first visit free. All welcome.
