Take the pressure off my cooker problem; Tricks OF THE Trade.

Byline: ZENA ALLI

THE rubber sealing ring on the lid of my Prestige High Dome pressure cooker has perished, and I've been unable to find a replacement. The cooker must be over 40 years old. Any ideas? - Mrs R Tully, Nethertown, Cumbria

ZENA SAYS: The good news is that Prestige have been around for decades, and they're still going strong - as are many of their cookers. They have an excellent spare parts department, where they'll help you to identify the exact model.

They can post the right rubber seal - they're called gaskets - to you themselves or, if you'd rather avoid the pounds 2.50 postal charge, they'll put you in touch with a local supplier.

As your cooker is the High Dome, a replacement gasket will cost pounds 7.36. Go to www.prestige.co.uk or call on 0151 482 8282
