Take credit for benefits.

Parents in Newcastle could be missing out on vital benefits and tax credits, according to the city council.

It says families may not realise they are entitled to some benefits such a the Children's Tax Credit.

The council's welfare rights service is inviting parents and their children to Eldon Leisure's Soft Play Centre, Eldon Square, on October 9.

They will be able to speak to a welfare rights worker and get a free and confidential benefit check.

Coun John O'Shea, cabinet member for social services and health, said: "Nothing could be easier. Simply pop down and while your child has fun, a welfare worker can check to see if you may be entitled to quids for your kids."
